Max Decker recently relocated to Martha's Vineyard with his wife and baby son after a decade spent living in Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised on the island, Max began painting the landscapes surrounding him as a young teenager.
He studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and in the intervening years experimented with many different mediums and subject matter; delicate figurative sculpture, large scale expressionist paintings, and even lutherie.
While in New York he found himself designing handmade jeans and writing electronic music. Now that he's back home, he will return his focus to the calm, reflective process of mixing paints, stretching canvas and creating his world within the work.
